Yesterday I got my copies of Butterfly Eyes and Other Secrets of the Meadow and An Egg is Quiet. I'm so happy with these Cybil winning books! They are gorgeous, creative, unique and educational.






Butterfly Eyes and Other Secrets of the Meadow, written by Joyce Sidman and illustrated by Beth Krommes, is an amazing and informative poetry book done in riddles. The format is truly unique. Two riddle poems are together on a spread, followed by a spread that answers the riddles and gives other info about the organisms.

Here is an example of the beautiful, fun language. See if you can solve the riddle (This is a hard one).
