Poetry Friday

lillies
Hello. What a beautiful day! I feel better this morning, the sky is clear as the ocean lapping on the Hawaiian shore (aww. Hubby and I are going to Hawaii this year. I'm so excited.), and it's almost the weekend, which means more family time with Daddy along!

For Poetry Friday, I bring some lovely springy poems.

THE DAFFODILS
by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upone that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

THE PASTURE
by Robert Frost

I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long.--You come too.

I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long.--You come too.

PIPPS'S SONG
by Robert Browning

The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn:
God's in his heaven--
All's right with the world!

the Wordsworth poem is one of my favorites! I've been to Buttermere Lake, which is supposedly where he got his inspiration :)

It is beautiful, isn't it? I'm thinking "And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils." would make a nice wall quote.

Oh boy did I need to read these today! I am stiff and sore from shoveling ice and frozen slush all day. Did someone say Spring??? I think I saw a poor hungry robin hopping over the snow banks this afternoon...
