I'm hosting Kaza Kingsley, author of the fabulous Erec Rex series, on her blog tour today over at Deliciously Clean Reads.

And...I came across this absolutely wonderful quote and wanted to share it with you...

Benjamin Franklin said, "If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing."

We are celebrating 100 REVIEWS at Deliciously Clean Reads this week by spotlighting Shannon Hale and her books all week! Comment on any of the posts this week and you'll be entered into a drawing for one of two signed Shannon Hale books. I won't post the reviews, interviews, discussions or giveaway here because some of you already have [info]cleanreads on your LJ friends lists. Make sure to check it out ESPECIALLY if you are one of the people who sent a question for her. I think you'll get a kick out of her answers.

Attention Shannon Hale Fan Club!!

I'm giddy with excitement. Shannon Hale has agreed to a blog interview, which I will post both here and at cleanreads.blogspot.com. Only problem? I'm not very confident about my interviewing skills. I have no doubt, however, that Shannon Hale will be entertaining whether I am or not.
Anyway, any questions from the peanut gallery?
What would you ask Mrs. Hale?

And, speaking of interviews. I'll have one up tomorrow with none other than the Queen of Board Books, Karen Katz. I'm not even pulling your leg. It's all part of the Robert's Snow: Blogging for a Cure deal. So, make sure to stop by!

Beauty is a Delicious Book

lillies
Last week, I read Beauty by Robin McKinley, and WOW. I LOVED IT! I posted my review at Deliciously Clean Reads.

Monday is always ketchup ;) day for me. Is it like that for you? My hubby is home from work on weekends, so I don't want to waste time cleaning. And Sunday is a day for Church and resting from life. I rarely come online on Sundays. It's my day off. I love having a day off.

So Monday is the day I:

Ketchup on laundry
Ketchup on floors
Ketchup on pickin' up
Ketchup on emails

I don't really get to start my new week until Tuesday, when I'm all caught up.

1. I posted a review of Fairest by Gail Carson Levine at [info]cleanreads today. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I seem to be on a I-heart-YA-fantasy kick.

2. I'm getting 8 submissions ready to wander Planet Earth. And I am going to submit something to the WIN contest too. Or a couple somethings. I'm not sure yet.

3. This weekend I'm vacationing! Woohoo! My brother is getting married in California (aww... home...) We are going to go to the beach (I just got a new swimsuit, the buying of which could have been much worse.), the beautiful wedding, and on Monday--Disneyland! I'm so excited. My littlies have never been before.

I hope you have great excitements to look forward to!

the great thing about wet socks.

Warning: This post is totally random.

I found a new way to clean spots off my very shiny, very light tile floor!
Step 1: Accidentally spill water all over yourself and the floor while emptying the dishwasher.
Step 2: Soak your sock-bottoms by stepping in water that you thought you already cleaned up.
Step 3: Be too lazy to take off your wet socks.
Step 4: Pretend to skate around the house.

And next time on Spring Cleaning Tips, I'll tell you how to accidentally remodel the house. :)

PS-Deliciously Clean Reads, my new blogger blog, is going great. So far we've reviewed everything from YA Fantasy (Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer) to Chapter Books for the Youngest Set (Toys Go Out by Emily Jenkins) to Adult Christian Fiction (Quaker Summer by Lisa Samson) to Tween Historicals (The Misadventures of Maude March by Audrey Couloumbis, A Drowned Maiden's Hair by Laura Amy Schlitz). Since several people are contributing, we are getting a wide range of books, which is exactly what I hoped for.

PSS-I would really like to create an LJ Feed for the site, but I'm not a paid/permanent account. Anyone want to help me out? I could try to return the favor somehow. I'd offer to make you an apple pie or fresh baked bread, but it probably wouldn't be that good after it was shipped.

Don't Shoot Me!

baby steps
Hey friends,

I'm starting a blog in blogger called cleanreads.blogspot.com. (If you visit it now, please understand that it is under construction.) I want it to be a place for teens and adults to come together and recommend/discuss great fiction novels that happen to be clean (mainly free of swearing and sex). I think for the site to be effective, I need a few other clean-book lovers to join in. Then we can cover more books on the site and make it a truly valuable resource. I hope to find a couple people who would like to contribute book reviews of clean fiction novels regularly. I will also have a link to my email, so anyone can send in a review any time.
Let me know if it sounds like something you might want to be a part of. Or if you know anyone that might be interested, please feel free to pass this on. Thanks.

I'm the kind of person that hates conflict. And I'm sure a few of my readers will think this is a bad idea and may even call it a subtle form of censorship. But I'm not starting cleanreads.blogspot.com to keep people from reading anything. It is meant to be a resource for those who choose to read clean books.

-Emily

Edited to add: What great YA/adult novels have you read lately that you think might qualify for Clean Read status? What books would you feel comfortable recommending to people at your church?
